Nvidia unveils advances in digital humans and avatar tech at Gamescom
Nvidia unveiled a number of advances in gaming technology that should delight gamers on the eve of the Gamescom 2024 expo in Cologne, Germany.
These include improvements in digital humans and avatar character tech (which Nvidia calls Nvidia ACE). This includes the company’s first small language model for game characters, the Nvidia Nemotron-4 4B NIM.
Such small language models are small enough to run on device and still offer quicker responses to AI queries compared to traditional large language models, the company said.
“Our new Nemotron-4 4B NIM is showcased in its first game, Mecha Break by Amazing Seasun Games,” the company said.

Nvidia G-Sync
Nvida is working with MediaTek to bring G-Sync MediaTek’s market leading monitor scalers. This will bring the full suite of G-Sync technology to more monitors and more gamers at a wider range of price points. Moving forward, Nvidia is integrating G-Sync technology into MediaTek scalers which eliminates the need for a separate module.
Nvdia will bring all the G-Sync technologies, including its most recent – Pulsar – to many more gamers and Nvidia will continue to create more G-Sync technologies with the MediaTek scaler solutions.
Nvidia also anounced the first monitors that have resulted from a partnership with MediaTek and all feature G-Sync Pulsar technology at 360Hz, 1440P resolution and HDR color.
GeForce Now
Nvidia’s GeForce Now cloud gaming service will be able to play Black Myth Wukong, Star Wars Outlaws and Final Fantasy XVI on launch day. The service’s Ultimate members will be able to enjoy the games with all the amazing GeForce graphics technology along with streaming features that only GeForce Now offers
Nvidia is also bringing Xbox Automatic Sign-On via account linking to Xbox users at Gamescom. Now it will be even easier and faster to link Nvidia and Xbox accounts in the GFN app, and you will never have to login again.
All users will have quick access to the entire Xbox games library, and will be able to enjoy games like Sea of Thieves, Skyrim, and Forza Horizon 5 more on all GFN platforms. And when combined with Game Sync feature, players can sync your accounts to see which Xbox games are supported on GFN.
Nvidia said it released its 2,000th game on GeForce Now. The library continues to grow and offer users some of the best PC games to play – Fortnite, Call of Duty, Once Human and many more – GFN users can instantly join and play with all their friends.
Nvidia said it is making it even easier for Premium GFN members to access over 25 of the top WoW AddOns without needing to log into a CurseForge account. GeForce Now has collaborated with CurseForge to include over the top 25 AddOns from its platform, available to Ultimate and Priority members — including Day Pass users — to seamlessly customize their WoW experience.
And the AddOns are even easier to implement than they would be while playing locally on a PC gaming rig since a CurseForge account isn’t required — just launch WoW and enable AddOns from the game’s menu.
Nvidia also has a new data center in Poland. It will enable Nvidia tobring GeForce Now Ultimate to more of European customers. Users in this region will see lower latency and high quality streaming.
Nvidia will be demonstrating RTX Games, ACE Technology, G-Sync Pulsar, Half-Life 2 RTX and GeForce Now in Nvidia’s B2B booth (Hall 2.1 Booth A010) at Gamescom 2024, taking place in Cologne, Germany August 21 to August 23.
