Oracle integrates AT&T’s IoT prowess into ECP
AT&T’s IoT connectivity and network APIs will be incorporated into Oracle’s Enterprise Communications Platform (ECP). This integration will provide Oracle’s industry cloud customers with a unified platform to connect and manage their IoT devices on the AT&T network.
The partnership will leverage AT&T’s network to deliver IoT connectivity and near real-time communications capabilities to Oracle’s suite of industry cloud applications. The all-in-one solution, complete with integrated features like IoT edge application management, aims to alleviate the burden on customers of managing complex integrations and network contracts.
Built upon the high-performance and secure infrastructure of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), the unified platform provides businesses with the connectivity and real-time data intelligence necessary to power innovative services and experiences. The AT&T IoT connectivity and network API integration is currently available across OCI regions in the US.
ECP, powered by AT&T, lays the groundwork for new industry applications across various sectors—from consumer-facing businesses to industrial operations. This partnership aims to deliver high-performing, reliable connectivity that fosters innovation and enables new services.
Potential use cases include communications-enabled restaurant operations, automated utility grid management, and enhanced telehealth capabilities.
A prime example of this collaboration is the integration of FirstNet – America’s public safety network built with AT&T – and ECP. This partnership forms the backbone of Oracle’s Public Safety suite, facilitating secure communications for critical functions. These include dispatch command centres and near real-time camera feeds for first responders actively engaged in incidents.
“Our mission has always been to help improve the way the world communicates, and with ECP supported by AT&T and FirstNet, we’re taking a massive step toward that vision,” said Andrew Morawski, Executive VP and GM, Oracle Communications.
“Together, we can help organisations across industries benefit from the full potential of 5G, by building a new generation of vertical applications offering endless opportunities to innovate.”
Sarita Rao, SVP of AT&T Partner Solutions, echoed this sentiment: “AT&T is committed to empowering our ecosystem partners to build solutions that integrate AT&T programmable connectivity, whether using our IoT APIs or our emerging network APIs.
“By teaming with Oracle to incorporate IoT connectivity and programmable API’s into Oracle industry applications, we are providing businesses and organisations a tighter level of integration between the network and application, driving performance and reliability gains while also eliminating integration requirements and separate contracting events.”
